PAYMENT CARD INDUSTRY DATA SECURITY STANDARD
PCI is a family of data security standards that is intended to secure processing infrastructure of the payment industry. PCI-DSS applies to any entity that processes, stores or transmits cardholder data. The consistent global standard applies to banks, merchants, service providers and gateways.
PCI Security Standard Council is the apex body promoting the payment card industry standards. The council was founded in 2006 by American Express, Discover, JCB International, Master Card and VISA Inc.
